Thoughts...On the Eve of Election Day

The votes have been cast and the results are pouring in! As I sit here waiting for the final announcement I can't help but think...

  • So many of the turning points in our lives are out of our control. Or at best we have very little to say about them.

  • That if we had to depend on what we can control there might be a lot of reason for anxiety and worry. And yet the fact that we CAN NOT control much is what usually leaves us feeling at loose ends and unsure!

  • We all must have something bigger than ourselves to trust in! Someone or Something that does have the power to control. Who we put in that place in our lives can make our life worthwhile or can destroy us!
Maybe a presidential election doesn't do ALL that, and yet it does feel like our country, our economy and our freedom hangs in the balance tonight. We all care about different things. And some things are more important to us than other things. But when we elect a president I wonder if we can even know how our lives WILL be affected. What will our children and grandchildren have to say as they look back on the history of this this moment from the vantage point of the future?

I find comfort in knowing that over it all there is a power that will see me through whatever changes may come in the future. I feel the power of prophecy being fulfilled as I experience the suspense of the presidential election. I am never sure I voted wisely. But I know who holds the future of my life and that is all that matters! I pray my grandchildren will find comfort and hope in that too!
